BREAKING: Trump’s DHS just handed $200 million MORE to a deportation contractor under CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION.
A company that critics say gamed its way to a near-billion-dollar deportation contract — and is now at the center of a criminal kickback probe — just got rewarded with ANOTHER $200 million of your tax dollars from the Department of Homeland Security.
Salus Worldwide Solutions won a $915 million contract in May 2025 to run "Project Homecoming," Trump's flagship self-deportation program — despite being founded just TWO YEARS earlier and having NEVER worked as a lead government contractor before.
How did a brand-new company win nearly a billion dollars? According to a federal court ruling, DHS held a competition lasting just DAYS with a handpicked pool of vendors — and initially tried to award Salus the contract with NO competition at all.
DHS's own contracting officer and legal team concluded the deal had "an appearance of impropriety." Agency staff even traded emails with Salus BEFORE the bid, sharing nonpublic budget details.
And the company has FAILED. Salus projected removing 276,000 people in the first year. As of December, only 17,406 self-deportations had been completed — a fraction of the target.
So naturally, three days after the base contract expired, Markwayne Mullin's DHS handed Salus a $200 million, six-month EXTENSION.
But here's the truly damning part. Salus is now at the center of a DHS Inspector General CRIMINAL investigation into alleged kickbacks to Corey Lewandowski — Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's chief adviser and alleged lover — in exchange for securing government contracts.
According to reporting, a Salus representative allegedly told a marketing firm: "We are guaranteed this contract, but we need to make sure we are properly thanking the person who gave it to us" — a reference to Lewandowski.
Rep. Robert Garcia warned that Lewandowski "may have used his position to enrich himself by shaking down contractors for kickbacks."
So let's recap: a brand-new company, a rigged competition, failed targets, a criminal kickback probe — and Trump's DHS just gave them ANOTHER $200 million.
This is what "fighting waste and fraud" looks like in Trump's America: getting Secretary Mullin to reward the alleged fraudsters.
